    Air Katana Empty Air Katana

Post by Click Wed May 30, 2012 9:57 pm

So I needed this for another project, so I modelled it in about 2 hours or so. I couldn't figure out how to do the holes, and I relied a lot on Set Smooth, but it turned out pretty decent. Comments, critism, smart remarks? Oh, and here's the .blend file.

Looks nice. And to make holes just make edge loops where the holes go and then delete the faces. Then search (spacebar) for "to sphere" in the blender search to make it a circular shape. It could be a bit thicker at the back though. Where it turns into a cylinder like shape.

Okay, I added in some covered holes (since the handle is a separate mesh, and if I added in holes all the way you would see the sword blade), a little texturing, and a few minro fixes like straightening the bars from the blade to the beam (if you look closely on the image above, they are very crooked, mostly because I used a very bad quality image), and the base of the beam had some wierd face issues. Check it out now!

Improved but the back still needs to be thicker. Where the cylinder like part is still needs to be a bit thicker to make it look proportionate. But that may just be me.

Like the handle, or what I've been calling the "beam?"

I guess it would be "the beam". The part that connects the blade to the back.

Oh, I see what you're saying. The edges are really sharp, because I thought merging and smoothing would straighten it out, but it didn't, so I'll see what I can do.
